Some random friday fun

1. This survey gets a little personal; can you handle it? Dumb...
2. If you married the last person you texted, what would your last name be?
I would be Mr. Lee Danny Jackson

3. Were you happy when you woke up today?
No. I wanted more sleep and was jealous that my wife gets to sleep in, and I won't get to for 2 weeks.

4. When were you on the phone last? And with who?
Yesterday... with Renae

5. Have you talked to a complete jerk today?
lol. Does talking to myself count?

6. Listening to music?
Audio Adrenaline's "Until my heart caves in" on my ipod... but Flynn Adam's "Such a time as this" in my head.

7.What are you excited for?
Not having to work at Dell anymore someday in the future. Getting this ordination stuff done and sent off. RAFTING TRIP!!!

8. What were you doing yesterday?
I worked. Then went home and cleaned... then played little big planet and blew D-rod's mind with HDTV.

9. Honestly, who was the last person to tell you they love you?
Renae

10. What's the last thing you put in your mouth?
An apple

11. Have a best friend?
A few. But, they're all either unreachable or moving.

12. Are you scared to fall in love?
Love is scary. It hurts more than anything.

13. Do you think teenagers can be in love?
depends on your definition of love. If you define love as emotions... sure. If you define it as a life-long comittment to a single person no matter what changes or happens... good luck guys. Love you.

14. Last person you wanted to punch in the face?
HAHAHAHAHAHA... that's my threat I always use in my head as a joke. When I get upset at anyone my first thought is "punch you in the face..." ... so, customers.

15.What time is it right this second?
11:17am

16. What do you want right now?
Rest. The ability to read and digest a book. Play final fantasy... nothing I'll get for 2 more weeks.

17. Who was the last person you took a picture with?
Uh... uh... Renae or Cody Anderson

18. Are you single/taken/heartbroken/or confused?
Married...

I "welled up" at Disney's UP. Great movie.

My mother, yes. My father, no.

More than I used to.

Not very. I am methodical and not conned by the myth of ADD.

23. I bet you miss somebody right now.
Sure. Would love to hang with David Lake.

24. Can you honestly say you're okay right now?
Ok. Yes. Good, maybe. Great... it's coming again.

25. Why do you think so many people cheat?
The appearance of an apparent advantage. Our sin nature which pre-disposes us to seek the self over community, God, or the greater good.

26. Tell me what's on your mind?
Flynn Adam's "Such a time as this"... thought we discussed that already.

27. What are you looking forward to in the next three months?
SUMMER BEING OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER. So much less stress during the school year.

34. Do you think somebody's in love with you?
I hope so... otherwise this marriage thing was a terrible idea.

Oh goodness. I want grilled cheese now!

Sure... Ed McMahon with my check.

46. Do you crack your knuckles?
Nope. Doesn't work.

47. What were you doing yesterday at midnight?

You're giving them more power than they have

It occurs to me that most of the evils we face in life are only the personification of evil because we assent our own power to that evil. In essence, we are giving the situation/evil/depression all of our own power. Which makes sense, evil is clamoring for it, because evil has no power of its own, and we are afraid of power, because secretly, we fear ourselves come alive.

But, in truth, we are the ones who hold power, not power of our own, mind you, but power none the less. We hold the breath of God in our very souls, and evil can only breathe deep when and exactly because we relinquish this breath to it out of fear. Truly, this has been evils game from the start of Creation. What was the move in the garden by the snake other than a power play to get Adam and Eve to give up the power that God gave them, relinquishing it to him. You can infer that end from every word the snake spewed. He was powerless. His every thought was consumed by the fact that he might somehow get the humes to give away the power that God bestowed upon them.

Truest of all, the power given is really Gods power and we are but the stewards of that power. Ironically, however, God is the type of God who gives His power with no strings attached. He allows us to use, hoard, or relinquish that power as we see fit. Which is why evil has any power at all. The power of death, physical and spiritual, has always been controlled by the original bearers of Gods power. It is when we relinquish that power over to the evil forces that crave what could never really be theirs.

So the easy simple answer to our problem in life is to stop giving Gods power over to these forces. We do not even need to reclaim that which we have given away, for God gives in abundance. All we really need to do to stem the tide is to retain what God gives us, and we will overcome the evil forces of death, depression, timidity, doubt, and all that goes bump in the night.

Now, the easy part is saying it. The hard part is doing it.
